Chris Postle

Chris Postle of Natural Impressions Art is a well known Qld artist, now living at Coolum on the Sunshine coast drawing most of his inspiration from the lifestyle and surrounding beauty within our local beaches and wilderness. A journey that, most would envy but possibly not pursue. Living on the edge at times, but passionate and persistent enough to keep this dream alive. Chris has quite a diverse background, from fitting and turning to small business owner and operator.

I guess all this has led Chris to his present pursuit.“I was strongly driven towards painting and drawing as a child, watching my mother paint as part time artist. It was all good fun, a little bit at school, but never a career option. Later in life when you least expect it this option started to surface. A spinal injury was at this time prompting me to avoid heavy work. I sold my carpet cleaning business, which giving me some financial independence.”People’s choice award in local art show and the seed was sewn. Steadily gaining confidence and letting the creative path unfold. It has been a soulful experience as well as rewarding in many ways. Focusing on our natural environment has been such a pleasurable endeavor. Working in the field so to speak, gathering reference with sketch book and camera then Returning to the studio to piece together the next masterpiece. A realist style has been predominantly Chris’ main approach to painting. “To bring something to life on canvas is such a rewarding exp, and then to have somebody purchase this and enjoy, gives you that wonderful feeling of achievement.

Chris has painted for over 20 yrs professionally, many magical moments have transpired throughout these years. One that stands to mind was one that I had painted a scene from the heart, of two Brolgas dancing by a waterhole on a winter sunset, But had never seen these birds in the wild. The day I was delivering the painting to the framers, I glanced to the side of the road at this small water hole. Yes, you could have knocked me down with a feather. There they were, 2 brolgas dancing a mating dance. Just happen to have the camera as well. What do you call that, it was surely magical for me.”While continuing to draw his inspiration from nature is presently discovering new concepts and styles to keep his passion burning. A journey to explore this creative path and to help keep people in touch with this amazing world we live in. Let’s enjoy it not destroy it.
